About the Method, Quality & Organisation
What makes the 50/50 learning method of Instituut Jeroen Bosch unique?
Our unique 50/50 success formula is designed for maximum learning outcomes. You combine 50% intensive one-on-one coaching through live online sessions with a dedicated trainer with 50% focused self-study via our interactive app and material. Unlike passive group lessons, with us you are constantly actively engaged with the language, so you achieve results faster at a clear and competitive price.
What do the course materials cost and what is included?
All our programs use a proven blend of digital and physical course materials designed to support our 50/50 learning formula. For a one-off fee of €75 (excl. VAT), you receive:
Access to our smart e-learning app: Flexible self-study tools to expand your vocabulary and practice listening and speaking skills when it suits you.
A comprehensive handbook or course materials: Depending on the language, your starting level, and chosen package, you will receive a course book or study materials covering all essential topics and practical exercises.
Tailored learning: During live 1-on-1 sessions, your trainer customizes exercises to match your specific situation and requirements.
Why do you work with certified trainers who live in the Netherlands?
We offer high-quality, individual online language training in more than 14 languages, working exclusively with highly qualified, certified trainers based in the Netherlands whom we meet and screen personally. This gives you a clear advantage: an excellent command of the language paired with seamless scheduling, uncompromised quality standards, and a trainer who understands the local professional environment.
What does your Cedeo certification mean?
Our official Cedeo certification is an independent quality mark in the training industry. This certificate is awarded only to institutes that demonstrate exceptionally high customer satisfaction (at least 80% according to rigorous customer surveys) and proven teaching quality. For you, this is the guarantee that you are choosing a professional and reliable training partner.
How does Instituut Jeroen Bosch relate to The Square Mile?
Instituut Jeroen Bosch is an exclusive online label that proudly operates under the flag of The Square Mile. Through this joining of forces, you benefit from the flexible, business expertise of The Square Mile (25 years of experience) and the rich educational history of Instituut Jeroen Bosch (a household name in Vught since 1968). Together, this represents more than 75 years of proven experience in high-quality language education.
Do you also offer group training, in-company courses or tailor-made in-person programmes on location?
Our label deliberately focuses 100% on the flexible, individual online one-on-one format. But are you looking for group training (for 2 to 150 employees), an in-company training on location at your premises, or a highly specific bespoke in-person programme? Then we arrange this seamlessly through our parent organisation The Square Mile. That way, we always offer the perfect solution for your entire organisation.
Do I need to live near Vught or Brabant to study with you?
No, absolutely not! Although our roots and teaching tradition have been in Vught since 1968, our individual training courses are 100% online today. So you can follow our lessons from anywhere in the Netherlands (from Amsterdam to Maastricht), but also from abroad or on the road for work. All you need is a stable internet connection.
Levels, Expectations & the CEFR
What is the CEFR and how do you determine my starting level?
The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is the international standard for objectively measuring language levels, from A1 (absolute beginner) to C2 (fluent speaker). Before your training starts, you complete our comprehensive Needs Analysis. During the first 30 minutes of your training (the live online intake with your trainer), we use this to determine your exact CEFR entry level and personal learning goals.
How quickly can I move up a CEFR level?
Language acquisition doesn't follow a straight line and is different for everyone. Starting at a lower level (A1 or A2)? Then at the beginning you'll often make big, visible leaps very quickly. But do you want to make the transition from an advanced level (B2) to business perfection (C1)? That calls for fine-tuning complex subtleties and simply takes more time and focus.
Do you guarantee that I will reach a certain language level?
We believe in honest and transparent expectation management. Because every programme is 100% tailor-made, we never give firm guarantees on a specific end level. Your success is the sum of your starting point, the intensity of your chosen programme and – crucially – your own effort and motivation during the self-study hours with the app and the book.
Do you also offer preparation for official language exams such as IELTS, Cambridge, or DELF?
We offer exam preparation at different levels, including Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency), IELTS, DELF/DALF, and DELE.
Looking to focus on one specific exam section? We highly recommend the LanguageBoost package. It serves as an intensive crash course designed to quickly prepare you for a single component, such as Speaking or Writing.
Need comprehensive preparation across all four skills? We advise choosing the LanguageImpact package, which thoroughly covers reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Prices, Packages, VAT & Subsidies
Which online language packages do you offer and what do they cost?
We offer four clear, transparent individual packages:
LanguageBoost (€ 400,- | 10 hours total): 5 hours live trainer / 5 hours self-study. Ideal for an urgent situation (a job interview, pitch or presentation).
LanguageFocus (€ 800,- | 20 hours total): 10 hours live trainer / 10 hours self-study. Targeted, in-depth training for either Speaking or Writing.
LanguageProgress (€ 1200,- | 30 hours total - Recommended): 15 hours live trainer / 15 hours self-study. Our refresher course to reactivate passive knowledge and further develop your skills.
LanguageImpact (€ 1600,- | 40 hours total): 20 hours live trainer / 20 hours self-study. Our complete all-round training (reading, writing, listening and speaking) for maximum impact.
What additional costs can I expect?
We love complete transparency up front, so you're never caught by surprise. In addition to the package price, you pay a one-time € 75,- administration fee and € 75,- for study materials. This includes the licence fees for our interactive app and the material. Our rates are also exclusive of VAT.
Are the intake and the final evaluation included in the price?
Yes, complete transparency is our top priority. Every programme includes a personal online intake (the first 30 minutes of your training) and a final evaluation (the last 30 minutes of your training). These hours are fully accounted for within the total hours of the package you have chosen.
Can I make use of subsidies (such as A+O Metalektro, OOM, STL or RAS) for a language course?
Yes, for many sectors and companies there are attractive subsidy schemes and training & development budgets available (such as A+O Metalektro, OOM, Doorzaam, STL, RAS, Colland or the MDIEU subsidy). Group programmes and corporate subsidy programmes are facilitated through our parent organisation The Square Mile. They have years of experience with these funds and advise and support your organisation free of charge with the subsidy application.
Can I enrol as a private individual (B2C), or is this exclusively for business clients (B2B)?
Our courses are accessible to both private individuals and business clients. During the online registration, you simply indicate who is paying for the training. Choosing private (B2C)? Then you receive an invoice in your own name. Is your employer or your own company paying (B2B)? Then you simply add your company name, KVK number, VAT ID and, if applicable, PO number for correct business invoicing.
I have a (second) home abroad and want to learn or brush up on the language. Which package is right for me?
That depends on your specific goal and timeline:
Do you have an urgent, specific need in the near future? We recommend LanguageBoost. This an intensive programme designed to prepare you quickly for immediate situations, such as an important meeting with a foreign real estate agent, signing paperwork at the notary, or coordinating with local contractors.
Looking to refresh your overall speaking skills and confidence? LanguageProgress is the ideal choice for a lasting refresher course to help you feel completely at ease in everyday conversations.
Practical Matters, Scheduling, Technology & Flexibility
How flexibly can I schedule the 1-on-1 online lessons?
Our training courses offer the ultimate flexibility for professionals with a busy schedule. Because our programmes are 100% online and strictly individual, you arrange the planning directly with your dedicated trainer. You train on the days and times that suit you best, whether that's early in the morning, during your lunch break or in the evening hours.
How soon after registering can I start the course?
Speed is one of our key priorities. As soon as your digital application has been processed and the invoice has been paid, we activate your programme immediately. On average, our learners start their live online kick-off within 5 to 10 working days.
What is the average duration of an online language course?
You largely determine the timeline yourself, in consultation with your trainer. On average, our learners take 2 to 3 months to complete a programme of, say, 20 or 30 hours. Would you prefer a more intensive 'pressure cooker' approach, or would you rather spread the lessons out more? Then we simply tailor the schedule accordingly.
Can I temporarily pause the course (for example due to holidays or a busy period)?
Yes, that is no problem at all. Thanks to our strictly individual approach, you are not tied to a class or a school timetable. Do you need to skip a week because of a holiday, a business trip or a temporary crunch on a project? Simply arrange this in good time with your dedicated trainer to reschedule your lessons free of charge.
In which languages do you offer individual online courses?
We offer high-quality, individual language training in more than 14 different languages. Alongside popular languages such as English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch as a second language (NT2), you can also come to us for languages such as Chinese (Mandarin), Norwegian, Arabic, Polish, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Russian and Portuguese.
What do I need technically to use the online lessons and the app?
Following our online training is very straightforward. You will need the following:
A laptop, computer or tablet with a stable internet connection, webcam and microphone for the live video lessons with your trainer (via secure platforms such as MS Teams or Zoom).
A smartphone or tablet for installing our interactive self-study app.
A postal address in the Netherlands or the EU (if applicable): depending on your chosen language and learning goals, the trainer may choose to use a lesson book. We will send this to you by post free of charge immediately after the intake.
The Customer Journey, Certification & Service
How does the 7-step plan work, from application to certificate?
Our streamlined process is designed to take as much off your plate as possible:
Application: You complete our online form with your choice of language and package.
Payment: You receive a clear digital invoice in advance.
Prep & Test: You complete our digital baseline assessment (Needs Analysis).
Matching: We pair you with the ideal certified trainer for your sector and goals.
Delivery: You start with the online intake and combine live coaching with our app. Halfway through, an automatic progress check follows.
Review & Next steps: During the final evaluation we measure your progress, you receive your certificate and we advise you on a next step.
Retention: After 3 months we do a check-in. Would you like to keep going? Then you receive a 10% discount on your follow-up training.
Do I receive an official certificate after completing the language course?
Yes. After successfully completing your training and the final evaluation with your trainer, you receive an official certificate from Instituut Jeroen Bosch. This certificate states the CEFR language level you have achieved (from A1 to C2), which serves as valuable, internationally recognised proof of your skills.
What does the 10% discount on a repeat purchase involve?
We reward loyalty. Three months after completing your language training, we automatically get in touch with you for a short, no-obligation check-in. If at that point you decide to develop your level even further, or if you would like to learn a completely new language with us, then as a returning customer you immediately receive a 10% discount on your next individual package.
Can I claim the language course as a business expense or have my employer pay for it?
Absolutely. The vast majority of our learners follow the training through their employer or as a self-employed entrepreneur. We send a clear, digital business invoice in advance, including a VAT breakdown, which can easily be entered into your administration. Our training directly contributes to your professional performance in the workplace.
Where can I find the terms and conditions and how can I save them?
Transparency and honesty come first for us. Our terms and conditions are based on the proven terms of The Square Mile and are immediately accessible during the sign-up process. You can view the terms with a single click of a button, save them as a PDF or print them directly, so you always know exactly where you stand.
What should I do if I'm unsure about the right package or my current level?
No worries! We are happy to advise you entirely without obligation. On our website you can contact us directly via WhatsApp or schedule a free consultation. Our training advisers listen to your goals and help you choose exactly the package that best suits your situation and ambitions.
